Quarter-finalists Lotte to play BVB on 14th March

Following negotiations with Sportfreunde Lotte and Borussia Dortmund, the DFB have rescheduled the previously cancelled quarter-final game. It is now scheduled for Tuesday 14th March (18:30 CET). The encounter was originally designated to be played this past Tuesday, but had to be cancelled on short notice due to poor pitch conditions caused by adverse weather.

Consent also had to be given by UEFA, because of the fact that the new date was initially reserved for one of the European competitions. The second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 meant that it would not be possible to play this Tuesday, and as a result the last DFB-Pokal quarter-final is set to begin on 14th March at 18:30 CET.

Semi-final: Winner of Lotte versus BVB to face FC Bayern

Given the quality of the pitch in Lotte, the game is now to be played in Osnabrück. The third-tier game between Sportfreunde Lotte and SG Sonnenhof Großaspach, originally to be played on 15th March, has been cancelled.

The finalists of the DFB-Pokal will be decided in the semi-final games to be played on 25th and 26th April. Borussia Mönchengladbach will play host to Eintracht Frankfurt in a Bundesliga matchup, whilst defending champions FC Bayern München will take on the winner of the Lotte versus Dortmund game. Should last year’s runners-up BVB emerge victorious, they will travel to Münich‘s Allianz Arena for a repeat of the 2016 DFB-Pokal final. In the event third-tier team Lotte win, then Bayern will play away to them.
