PSG and Lyon draw in crunch clash

The top of the table meeting between Paris Saint-Germain and leaders Olympique Lyon ended goalless in the Stade Charléty on Friday night. The result means that Lyon (56) retain their three-point advantage over the Paris side (53) and remain on course to lift the title.

Both sides were without key midfielders for the tactical battle. PSG’s Caroline Seger was absent, whilst Amandine Henry was unavailable for the visitors. Chances were few and far between but Lyon had the best of them and looked more likely to break the deadlock than their opponents. Home keeper Ann-Katrin Berger lenkte tipped Amel Majri’s effort onto the woodwork (23’) and also stopped Louisa Nécib’s free kick from hitting the back of the net (59’).

It was a quiet night for Lyon’s Sarah Bouhaddi at the other end of the pitch. Her first save of the game came in the 84th minute and even then she was hardly tested by Lisa Dahlkvist’s shot. Germany international Anja Mittag burst into the box with just seconds left to play and went down after pressure from Griedge Mbock and Saki Kumagai, however, no penalty was awarded and the game ended not long after.
