Pizarro comes off the bench to set up the winner in Hoffenheim

Claudio Pizarro came off the bench in Hoffenheim to assist the goal which gave Werder Bremen a last minute lead. The Peruvian striker was brought on in the 82nd minute and set up Anthony Ujah who fired Bremen into a 2-1 lead.

Zlatko Junuzovic scored the opener and rounded off the scoring with a late goal to make it 3-1. Hoffenheim's substitute Eduardo Vargas had levelled the score shortly after half time, but the visitors struck late to take their points tally to seven. Hoffenheim on the other hand have suffered their worst start to a Bundesliga season in the club’s history, having managed just one point from four games.

Werder took control of the game right from the start and were dangerous in places, especially from Zlatko Junuzovic's set pieces. Hoffenheim had very little to offer going forward and continued to make mistakes in defence.

Bremen's late sucker punch

The visitors took a deserved lead shortly before half time, as Austrian international Junuzovic bagged his first goal of the season. Gisdol responded at with two half-time changes bringing on new signings Vargas and Jonathan Schmid. Vargas made an immediate impact scoring the equaliser just four minutes after the restart.

Hoffenheim took confidence from the goal and pushed for a winner with Werder keeper Felix Wiedwald making several impressive saves. It looked like only a matter of time before Hoffenheim would take the lead, but Pizzaro turned the game on its head in the closing stages.
