64 teams, 63 games and lots of goals. Exactly 200 in fact – not including penalty shootouts. The 2016/17 DFB Pokal was quite special. Voting has started via the DFB Pokal App for the best goal scored in the DFB Pokal last season.
The final between Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund was one of the highlights of an extraordinary DFB Pokal season that was remarkable for many reasons. Never before have fifteen DFB Pokal matches been decided on penalties. Never before has a teamed reach four finals in succession. In addition, a rule change enabled teams to make a fourth substitution in extra-time, which FC-Astoria Walldorf did for the first time in the round of 16.
There were also many wonderful goals scored in the DFB Pokal last season. The first goal of the tournament was scored by Robert Lewandowski for defending champions Bayern Munich in their first round tie against FC Carl Zeiss Jena. The last goal of the competition came from the penalty spot as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang won the final for Borussia Dortmund. Now we want to know: which goal was your favourite from last season’s DFB Pokal. You can choose from 16 goals on the DFB Pokal App. The goal which you select will have to pass through four rounds before it can be crowned the winner.
How does the voting work?
In the first round of voting, the 16 goals will be split into eight pairs. After each round of voting, one goal from each pair will progress until there are only two goals left in the fourth and final round. The winning goal will be confirmed on 12th June.
1st round of voting: 31st May - 3rd June
2nd round: 4th – 6th June
Semi-finals: 7th – 9th June
Final: 10th – 12th June
