Olympic Champions second in FIFA world rankings

The Germany women’s national team have finished 2016 in second place in the FIFA world rankings. The Olympic Champions finish behind World Champions USA, who managed to extend their lead at the top.

Germany occupy second place with 2109 points, behind the USA (2140 points) and ahead of France (2041), Canada (2031) and fifth placed England (2030). The top five in the world therefore remain unchanged since the last release of the rankings.

Behind the leading countries lie Australia (1984), Japan (1982) and Sweden (1977), with Brazil (1961) swapping places with North Korea (1952) to rank in ninth place.

The next official release of the women’s world rankings will be on the 24th March 2017.
