Özil wins group with Arsenal

Arsenal FC won 4-1 away at FC Basel in their last UEFA Champions League group game to finish top of Group A. Meanwhile, Manchester City drew 1-1 at home to Celtic. Pep Guardiola’s team were already certain to finish second in Group C, whilst Celtic had no chance of moving off the bottom spot.

Another assist for Mesut Özil

Lucas Perez (8’, 16’ 47’) scored a hat-trick for Arsenal on Tuesday evening. Alex Iwobi scored in the 54th minute to make it 4-0 to the Gunners. Seydou Doumbia got a goal back for the hosts in the 78th minute but that wasn’t enough to get FC Basel back into the game. Mesut Özil played the full 90 minutes for Arsenal whilst fellow Germany international Shkodran Mustafi was an unused substitute.

Manchester City put out a weakened side at home to Celtic, with Ilkay Gündogan being one of the only usual key players on the pitch. Patrick Roberts gave Celtic an early lead in the 4th minute, however young striker Kelechi Ineanacho brought the teams level again just four minutes later. Leroy Sané also started for Manchester City on the right wing.
