Özil back in training – possible return to action on Sunday

It seems that World Champion Mesut Özil is back on track. The 26-year-old midfielder has returned to training after being out with an injury for three months and could already return to action for Arsenal against Stoke City on Sunday. “He is back in training and is definitely a candidate for a place in Sunday’s squad,” commented manager Arsene Wenger, who didn’t refuse to rule out a spot in the starting XI: “I haven’t decided yet.”

Özil made his last appearance on the 5th October against city rivals Chelsea FC. Since then, he has had to rest due to knee ligament damage. Apart from Özil, Aaron Ramsey (hamstring) and Mathieu Flamini (groin) have also recovered and will be available for the squad. Furthermore, striker Olivier Giroud is due to return from a three-match-ban.
