Nürnberg claim point in six-goal thriller

Borussia Dortmund defended first place in style on Round seven of the Bundesliga by beating SC Freiburg 5-0 at home. Titleholders FC Bayern München had to content themselves with a hard-fought 1-0 against VfL Wolfsburg and are level on points but behind on goals.

Bayer Leverkusen are one point behind the top two, winning another three with a 2-0 against Hannover 96. 1899 Hoffenheim celebrated a 3-3 against Schalke 04 after being two goals down in halftime. Hertha BSC Berlin won their first match after four winless 3-1 against Mainz 05, which now have lost five matches in a row.

On Friday, at the beginning of the seventh round Borussia Mönchengladbach took their first point on foreign grounds by drawing 2-2 at FC Augsburg.
