No action to be taken against Timo Werner

The DFB has reviewed the incident leading to the penalty decision in the 1st minute of the Bundesliga game between RB Leipzig and Schalke 04 and also interviewed the referee Bastian Dankert. No action is to be taken against Timo Werner after these preliminary investigations.

“We have thoroughly looked into this issue. In the end, the referee made a factual decision. The player would only be punished if Timo Werner had lied to the referee after the incident. He didn’t do that on this occasion,” said Dr. Anton Nachreiner, chairmen of the DFB panel responsible for dealing with retrospective sanctions.
