Niersbach voted into FIFA Executive Committee

Wolfgang Niersbach, DFB president, has been officially voted into the FIFA Executive Committee. His election was confirmed at the 64th FIFA Congress in Zürich on Friday. The 64-year-old replaces Dr. Theo Zwanziger.

Niersbach’s first day in the job is Saturday, when the new committee will decide the number of qualification slots allocated to each confederation for both the 2018 and 2022 World Cup. The DFB president was nominated by delegates of the national associations at the UEFA Congress in March.
