Our U17 team put on a great performance in Bulgaria, as they went undefeated before falling short to France in the final. Coach Christian Wück and his DFB colleagues are happy about how the team played.
Christian Wück (Coach of the U17 team): I am very proud of our team. We played an amazing tournament, but France was a bit stronger than us offensively, and at the end of the day it was too much for us to handle.
Wolfgang Niersbach (DFB President): The U17's played an amazing tournament. One has to respect the fact that France were the better team, both physically and technically. I don't blame the boys at all as they never gave up once. I would like to congratulate French Federation president Noel le Graet for the win.
Helmut Sandrock (DFB-General Secretary): The team took much away from this experience. I want to congratulate France who outplayed us. The U17's have already qualified for the World Cup in Chile, maybe we can redeem ourselves there..
Hansi Flick (DFB Sport director): The team proved that they had a good morale and fought back after they were down 2-0. The last two goals broke us down as a team. Despite that the U17's represented us well in Bulgaria.
