New points record: Trapp and PSG carry on winning

p>Thanks to Edinson Cavani, Paris Saint-Germain set a new record points tally for the French Ligue 1. The capital club reached 92 points with their 4-0 win over GFC Ajaccio and went three points clear of the old record, that was set in 2013/14. Striker Cavani grabbed a hat-trick as the Germany goalkeeper Kevin Trapp and his side triumphed. Sweden international Zlatan Ibrahimovic put the finishing touches on with his 35th goal of the season in injury time.

English champions Leicester City emotionally celebrated their sensational title win on Saturday. Ahead of their last home game of the season against Everton, the players ran out to the sounds of the Arie, “Nessun Dorma”, sung by famous tenor Andrea Bocelli, as well as deafening cheers from their fans.

The subsequent game gave the euphoric crowd more reason to celebrate as well, as the newly crowned champions beat the Merseyside club 3-1 in the pouring rain, without the suspended Robert Huth. Striker Jamie Vardy picked up a brace taking his tally for the season to 24 and keeping himself in the hunt for the golden boot. Andy King scored the third of Leicester’s goals in between the two Vardy strikes. Kevin Mirallas was on target for Everton. At 20:40 BST, Leicester captain Wes Morgan was finally able to raise the Premier League trophy into the evening sky.
