Neuer named World’s Best Goalkeeper

FC Bayern München keeper and World Cup winner Manuel Neuer has claimed the World’s Best Goalkeeper crown for the fourth year in a row. The 30-year-old came on top in the vote, which was organised by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS). He received 156 votes and finished ahead of Gianluigi Buffon (91; Juventus) and Rui Patricio (51; Sporting). Experts from 56 countries were invited to take part in the decision. The accolade has now been awarded on 30 occasions.

Neuer’s fourth victory sees him move alongside Buffon and into second in the all-time winners list. Only Iker Casillas (5) has won it more frequently.
