Neuer makes it into World XI

World Cup winner Manuel Neuer has made it into the FIFA World XI. The ‘team’ was decided through an online poll for thousands of professional footballers around the world. Incidentally, Neuer is the only Bundesliga player to feature in the 2015 World XI. The DFB-Team keeper was, however, not able to attend the awards ceremony in Zurich due to being away at a training camp in Qatar with FC Bayern München.

Aside from Neuer, the World XI includes five players from Champions League winners FC Barcelona, and three from Real Madrid. The defence is made up of Dani Alves (FC Barcelona), Thiago Silva (Paris St. Germain), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid) and Marcelo (FC Barcelona). In midfield: Andréas Iniesta (FC Barcelona), Luka Modric (Real Madrid) and Paul Pogba (Juventus), behind the attacking trio of Neymar (FC Barcelona), Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid).
