Neuer: “I’m on the right track in my recovery”

The currently injured Manuel Neuer is confident that he will be making his return in the near future, and doesn’t think he's in danger of missing the World Cup. “I’m doing well and I think that I’ll be able to play in the second half of the season,” said the 31-year-old goalkeeper in an interview with FCB.tv.

The captain didn’t provide a particular estimation for when he would return, however: “We have to play it safe.” Generally, Neuer is happy with how his rehab from a repeat injury to his left foot is going: “I have to say that I’m feeling good. I think my foot is coming along well. I don’t have any pain at the moment and I think that I’m on the right track in my recovery.”

Neuer has high praise for his replacement at FC Bayern, Sven Ulreich, who has been between the sticks for the Munich club since matchday 5 in the Bundesliga. “He’s a great goalkeeper, and he’s proving that right now. He is doing an outstanding job for Bayern.”
