Neid and coaching staff at Olympics workshop

Silvia Neid invited her coaching staff to an Olympic workshop. The focal point of the meeting was the detailed planning of preparation methods for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, which begin on 3rd August with the first group game. Germany’s coach, her two assistants Ulrike Ballweg and Steffi Jones as well as goalkeeping coach Michael Fuchs all met in Frankfurt for the two-day meeting.

Silvia Neid explained, “Together we have worked out a detailed training plan for the next few months and developed some new ideas. I am very happy with the results of our workshop and I am looking forward to our first steps at the tournament in the USA.”

The Germany Women’s team will travel on 29th February to North America for the SheBelieves Cup. The four-nation tournament, which is being arranged by the World and Olympic Champions, begins for Germany on 3rd March (23:00 CET/17:00 local time) against France at the Raymond James stadium in Tampa, Florida. The next match against England will be at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee on 6th March (23:45 CET/16:45 local time). The tournament concludes on 10th March (1:45 CET/19:45 on 9th March local time) at the FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Florida against the USA.

Four steps until take off for Rio

Following the tournament, Germany will return to competitive action against Turkey on 8th April in a EURO qualifier before they face Croatia on 12th April (18:00 CET) in Osnabrück. Actual preparations for the Olympics will begin at the end of June and there are four steps planned before setting off for Rio on 27th July.

They begin in Grassau am Chiemsee (20th-28th June) and are followed by a course in Barsinghausen from 3rd July until 8th July. On 13th July the third preparation step will begin (11th-15th July) and will include a friendly in Regensburg with the opponent, as well as the one for the final home game before the Olympics on 22nd July in Paderborn, yet to be confirmed. The final step is scheduled for 18th-23rd July.
