National team: Germany win against Canada

The German National squad will meet Canada in an international friendly today (19 h CEST) in Wolfsburg. On Monday, May 26, team manager Rudi Völler called up 23 players overall for the game in Wolfsburg and the EC-qualifiers in Scotland (June 7 in Glasgow) an the Faroe Islands (June 11 in Torshavn).

The starting line-up against Canada:

Rost - Friedrich, Wörns, Baumann, Rau - Kehl, Ramelow, Frings, Schneider - Bobic, Lauth.

Against Canada Völler has to replace Oliver Kahn, Michael Ballack, Jens Jeremies (FC Bayern Munich) and Miroslav Klose (1. FC Kaiserslautern), who took part in the German Cup final in Berlin with their teams on Saturday. Jörg Böhme (Schalke 04) had to leave the team due to a back injury.

Also not available due to injuries were Jens Lehamnn, Christoph Metzelder (Borussia Dortmund), Dietmar Hamann (FC Liverpool), Christian Ziege (Tottenham Hotspur). Jens Nowotny (Bayer Leverkusen) and Sebastian Deisler (Bayern Munich) are not yet fit to be part of the team.
