National team: Germany and Russia draw 2-2

Bastian Schweinsteiger scored his first two goals for Germany as the World Cup hosts drew 2-2 with Russia on Wednesday in their final warm-up match before the Confederations Cup.

Alexander Anjukow gave Russia the lead in the 26th minute before Schweinsteiger got off the mark, finishing at the far post to level after half an hour. The 20-year-old Bayern Munich winger, swept in right-footed with 20 minutes to go (69.), but Germany were denied victory when Alexander Kerschakow struck in the first minute of added time after a swift break from Andrei Arshavin.

"The combination play was very nice to look at," said Germany coach Juergen Klinsmann, who was not too concerned by the late equaliser.
