National player Jansen signs with Hamburg

German national player Marcell Jansen leaves Bayern München and signed a five-year contract with the Hamburger SV on Wednesday. The 22 year-old Jansen is scheduled to take his medical exam today.

Marcell Jansen said to dfb.de on Wednesday: „I am glad that we were able to clearify all important details with the HSV in such a short time. On Wednesday morning, I had a final talk with our coach Jürgen Klinsmann. His assessment of my perspective and status with Bayern was just one more reason for my decision to move to Hamburg. Contacts with the HSV have been ongoing for quite some time."

Jansen (28 caps, 1 goal) was part of the 2006 FIFA World Cup and the EURO 2008 teams.

"He is such a versatile player. Marcell will make us a stronger team on the wings", said HSV Sports Director Dietmar Beiersdorfer.

Hamburg also signed 23-year old Brasilian defender Alex Silva, who was a member of the South American's Olympic team.
