Nadine Kessler is “Women’s World Playmaker of the Year 2014”

Nadine Keßler, who was recently voted Women’s World Player of the Year, has now also been selected as Women’s World Playmaker of the Year. In a vote initiated by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS), 105 points were awarded to the Germany international and VfL Wolfsburg player. She was eight points ahead of her teammate, second-placed Lena Goeßling (97), who won the award last year. There was a considerable gap between the pair and Olympique Lyon’s Luisa Necib in third place (37).

This award is a tribute to a great year for Keßler, who captained both her national side and VfL Wolfsburg and was also named European Women’s Player of Year. She managed to win the German Championship and the Champions League for the second time in a row with Wolfsburg. The German success in the vote was completed by 1. FFC Frankfurt’s Dzsenifer Marozsán in eighth place.
