World Cup winner Shkodran Mustafi’s Valencia have made it into the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey. Having already won the home leg 4-0, manager Gary Neville’s side travelled to league rivals Grenada and got the job done with a 3-0 victory (7-0 agg.).
The goals were scored by Wilfried Zahibo - shortly before the break, Paco Alcácer (63rd minute) and Pablo Piatti (83rd minute penalty). Mustafi played at centre back for the whole 90 minutes.
Cup victory for Gómez with Besiktas
Germany international Mario Gómez is within touching distance of a place in the Last 16 with his club Besiktas. The Turkish Süper Lig leaders beat second division side Trazbon thanks to a late winner from Olcay Sahan. Gómez was in the starting XI and taken off after 68 minutes.
After four games now in Group C of the second qualifying round of the cup, Besiktas lead the group with ten points and have four points more than Sivas Belediyespor in third. The top two in the group qualify for the Last 16.
