Mustafi helps Arsenal into cup FA Cup Quarter Finals

German International Shkodran Mustafi started as Arsenal reached the Quarter Finals of the English FA Cup. Arsene Wenger's team overcame National League side (Division 5) Sutton United 2-0 in South London and avoided another damaging cup defeat following last week's 5-1 thrashing by Bayern Munich.

Sutton's Borough Sports Park was sold out for the clash, which was played on an artificial pitch. 5,000 people watched Spaniard Lucas Perez and Theo Walcott grab the goals either side of half time to send the Gunners through as the visitors limited their lower ranked opponents to very little.

Özil rested, Mertesacker on the bench

World cup winner Mesut Özil and striker Olivier Giroud were both left out of the squad. Former German international Per Mertesacker, who is yet to fully return from a knee injury this season, started on the bench.

Arsenal will now play another side from the National League in next round. Lincoln City overcame Premier League team Burnley 1-0 on Saturday, become the first side from non league in 103 to make the Quarter Finals of the FA Cup.
