Question: How do you summarise the final test before the season begins?
Müller: Good. We played against big international opponents in pre-season and beat them all. That’s how we want to continue in the next weeks and deliver further results.

Müller: After two years with the same coach everything becomes easier. That doesn’t mean that we don’t make mistakes. But we basically know what we want. The philosophy is clear, however it’s easier than two years ago when everything was new.
Question: What do you say looking forward to the cup match against Oberliga side FC Nöttingen?
Müller: We’re not all about the weekend. We are concentrating on the cup. It is a competitive match so we will approach it very seriously.

Top scorer Robert Lewandowski scored the decisive goal, whilst World Cup winner Thomas Müller played the entire game and was convincing in his all-round attacking play even if a goal eluded him despite several chances. In an interview with DFB.de, the 25-year-old speaks about pre-season, his encounter against fellow Germany international Toni Kroos and the first round of the DFB Cup against Oberliga side FC Nöttingen on Sunday.
Question: Mr Müller, how do you summarise the 1-0 win over Real Madrid?
Thomas Müller: We played well again, but maybe with a few more mistakes than in the semi-final against AC Milan. Admittedly the pitch has been used quite a bit recently, so that doesn’t make it easier. But we did well and won against two big opponents.
Question: What can you take out of these two days?
Müller: Nothing in particular, because I had a good feeling before the game. We also played two good games against considerable opponents in China and also against Wolfsburg in the Supercup. Of course that’s how it is in this business: when you don’t win, then it will show. That’s the way it is. But we can’t allow ourselves to get ruffled, but concentrate on the basics.
Question: What do you think of new signing Douglas Costa?
Müller: Let’s say this: He is rapid and has extreme acceleration. He is also deft with his foot and generally light-footed. So he always has an advantage over the first few metres and can do a lot for us with his dribbling. That will definitely do our game a lot of good.
