Marozsan named 2014 Women's Player of the Year

Germany international Dzsenifer Marozsan (22-years-old) has been chosen as the 2014 Women’s Player of the Year. 1. FFC Frankfurt’s playmaker picked up 38.9% of votes, which were cast on DFB.de. Nadine Keßler won the award last year; Simone Laudehr (32.9%) came second this year. “This is a great honour for me and a special award, one which I appreciate a lot,” said Marozsan.

Marozsan has had a successful year and is deserving of the honour: She featured in all 13 internationals and played a decisive part in the successful qualification for the World Cup and the victory in the renowned Algarve Cup, in which her four goals made her top scorer and she was named Player of the Tournament. Domestically, she won the DFB Cup with 1. FFC Frankfurt in May.

“2014 was a great year for us. We qualified convincingly for the World Cup and won 12 out of 13 games,” Marozsan recalled when speaking to DFB.de: “Winning this award, as voted for by the fans, is a massive honour and gives me more motivation to succeed in 2015. We are aiming high. In order to achieve our goals, we need the fans’ support.”

Nadine Keßler came third with 13.7% of the vote, followed by Alexandra Popp (4.3%) and Lena Goeßling (3.1%). The shortlist was made up of the 14 players who had featured in at least eight international fixtures during the course of 2014.
