Marco Reus sets EURO 2016 goal: "At least the semi-finals"

Germany international Marco Reus doesn't see the favourites tag at EURO 2016 as a burden for the World Cup winners: "We weren't at our best in qualification, and we weren't up to the standards of the boys in 2014 in Brazil. We're all perfectly aware of that. However, I'm sure that the manager will be able to get us in the right frame of mind. He's managed it before all major tournaments before," said Reus to Welt am Sonntag. "We always make at least the semi-finals. That has to be our goal this time, too."

The Borussia Dortmund star sees his club, under manager Thomas Tuchel, as being on the right path in the Bundesliga. "Our style of play has changed completely and we see a lot more of the ball now. It helps the team to progress a lot. Tuchel's changes have definitely brought us further," said the 26-year-old attacker. Reus continued: "We scored 84 goals in all three competitions in the second half of last year, which is among the best of any team in Europe. We can feel things clicking into place and we're in a position to overcome teams that would have previously posed us problems."

Reus also praised his manager's training philosophy. "If you look at our training camp in Dubai, we didn't go straight back to the hotel after finishing training each day. Instead, we did active regeneration for at least half an hour. Thomas Tuchel puts a lot of emphasis on that," the ex-Gladbach player reported. Reus added that the effects of these measured are not immediately noticeable, but "perhaps in the long run."
