Manuel Neuer: "Convincing, dominant and controlling"

After the game come the questions. Reporters ask, and players answer. What did the players have to say about their performance? DFB.de compile these exchanges every Monday. Today’s article features Thomas Müller, Manuel Neuer, Mats Hummels and Kevin Volland.

Bayern München 3-0 Bayer Leverkusen

Manuel Neuer: We were very convincing, very dominant and very controlling. We showed right from kick off how much we wanted to win the game.

Thomas Müller: We’d analysed Leverkusen a couple of times this season. They play a very intensive game, and therefore it wouldn’t have been easy for them to keep up that style of play when they played in midweek. We should have managed the game a little better at the end.

Christoph Kramer: We needed to have a very good day here today and hit them hard if we wanted to take anything home with us – and we failed to do both of those things. Bayern totally deserved their victory, and they could have scored even more. They allowed us no chances, and we have to accept that.

Karim Bellarabi: It’s been a tough week for us, what with the game against Lazio too. We could have played much better today, but we have to admit that Bayern deserved to win. They simply put in a very good performance – they were quick to the ball and very efficient. They created a lot of chances, and they have some quality players who can make those chances count."

Borussia Dortmund 3-1 Hertha BSC

Matthias Ginter: We had the majority of the ball, and they got a little tired from all the running after the hour mark. Unfortunately we couldn’t make it 3-0, and it’s always dangerous when you’re only 2-0 up – we saw that when they made it 2-1 as the game got a little tighter, even if we didn’t allow them any more chances. Luckily we were able to make it 3-1. We’re very happy to have taken all three points.

Mats Hummels: We’ve swept away anything that’s been put before us – so far we can only be satisfied with the way things are going. At times we’ve played really well, and at other times we’ve had to dig in – just like today, we got through it. We lacked a little bit of concentration in our passing and our finishing at 2-0 up – we could have killed off the game a little earlier. We had games like today last season where we didn’t end up taking all three points – this season, it looks to be a little different.

Darmstadt 98 0-0 1899 Hoffenheim

Kevin Volland: Our final ball was lacking. We still need to find our feet in attack. We had some good chances in the last 20 minutes, but we were unable to convert them. We were very good defensively, and we should have won the game today. It’s even tougher to take after we got nothing from our good performance against Bayern last week. We need to keep working and believing in ourselves, and then we’ll pick up some points.

VfB Stuttgart 1-4 Eintracht Frankfurt

Timo Werner: We wasted some good chances in the first half and allowed ourselves to be hit on the break twice. In the second half we started well, but the red card broke our rhythm. It’ll take time to perfect this style of play – but the whole team is convinced that it’s the right way to play, and that we’re headed in the right direction.
