The Premier League’s most successful side began their second game of the season with World Cup winner Bastian Schweinsteiger on the bench. 20-year-old Belgian Adnan Januzaj scored the winner for Manchester United as they beat Aston Villa 1-0 to take an early lead at the top of the table.
As in the Red Devils’ previous game, also a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, Schweinsteiger began the game on the bench and was again a replacement for Michael Carrick in the 60th minute. Germany’s captain helped United in the remaining half hour by providing more stability in defensive midfield.
