Manageable tasks for Bundesliga trio

The three German teams participating in the Europa League can be happy with the draw for the group stage. The trio received attractive, but solvable tasks in the draw at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.

Schalke will face APOEL Nicosia, Sparta Prague and Asteras Tripolis in Group K. Ruhr rivals Borussia Dortmund, who qualified for the group stage after a 7-2 win over Norwegian side Odds BK in their playoff on Thursday night, have been drawn into Group C with PAOK Saloniki, FK Krasnodar and FK Qäbälä, the Europa League debutants from Azerbaijan.

Augsburg travel to Bilbao, Alkmaar and Belgrade

European debutants FC Augsburg, who were the only German team not in pot one but in pot three, will play in Group L against Athletic Bilbao, AZ Alkmaar and Partizan Belgrade.

Emre Can, who has just received his first call up to the senior Germany squad, will travel with his Liverpool team to Rubin Kazan, Diego Contento’s Girondins Bordeaux and Swiss side FC Sion. Mario Gomez, Tolgay Arslan and Andreas Beck will play with Besiktas against Sporting Lisbon, Lokomotiv Moscow and FK Skenderbeu from Albania. World Champion Miroslav Klose and Lazio have been drawn with Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, St. Etienne and Rosenborg of Norway.
