Bundesliga team FSV Mainz 05 announced on Tuesday that they have fired manager Kasper Hjulmand with immediate effect. U23 coach Martin Schmidt will take over.
The 42-year-old Dane took charge in Mainz this season and had signed a contract until 2017.
The team has only won once in the last thirteen games and are placed 14th in the table, only one point above the first automatic relegation place. In the current Bundesliga season, the team has only won four times in twenty one games.
