Lukas Podolski returns to 1.FC Köln

The 1. FC Köln confirmed on Monday that German national player Lukas Podolski will return to the team this summer. Podolski had left Cologne following the 2006 FIFA World Cup and signed with FC Bayern München. Now, the 23-year old forward returns to his former club, where he had played from 1995 to 2006. Podolski signed a four-year-contract.

“We have reached agreement on a contract starting July 1. It just feels good, that a final decision has been made. Now, all the speculations about my future career can come to an end”, said Podolski in a press release.

He has scored 31 goals in 60 appearances for the German national team. FIFA’s technical study group voted him “Best young player” following the 2006 World Cup. He was also voted into the EURO 2008 ‘All-Star’Team’. Adding up his numbers for Cologne and Munich, Podolski has played 109 Bundesliga-games, scoring 34 goals.
