Löw wins Golden Sport Pyramid award: "I feel honoured"

German national team coach Joachim Löw was awarded the Golden Sport Pyramid by the charity foundation "Deutsche Sporthilfe" for his occupational success and commitment to social activity."I feel honoured to have been included in this exclusive circle," said the 55-year-old after he was presented with the award in Hamburg. "I would like to thank the ‘Deutschen Sporthilfe’, the foundation council and the jury."

Löw, who guided Germany to its fourth World Cup title in Brazil last summer, was also included in the Hall of Fame of German Sports. The Golden Sport Pyramid vote has been carried out since 2000 with former laureates and the foundation council making up an independent jury.

Former winners of the award include Steffi Graf, Katarina Witt, Franz Beckenbauer, Heiner Brand, Henry Maske and Hamburg legend Uwe Seeler. "It's quite a short list, which makes this award even more special," said Löw.
