Löw: "We had one goal – to win the game"

Die Mannschaft secured a 3-1 win in their first competitive game of the season, taking them to the top of European Qualifying Group D. Head coach Joachim Löw was full of praise for his team after the game – DFB.de brings you a round-up of all the match reaction.

Joachim Löw: We had one goal – to win the game. That was the most important thing. Overall I can be very pleased – the team was very switched on for long periods of the game. The only chances Poland got came from our own mistakes.

Mario Götze: We absolutely wanted to go home with three points and as group leaders. It could have gone much worse – also for me personally.

Thomas Müller: We’re very relieved that we won the game. I would have preferred us to be a bit more stable at the back, and to not misplace so many passes. At the end of the day we’re happy that we've beaten the toughest team in the group. Now we’re top of the table and we want to stay there.

Toni Kroos: Overall you have to say that we earned the victory. We were in control for long periods of the game, we created chances and we scored some good goals. But we also allowed Poland a couple of chances – that’s somewhere we have to improve. All in all, it was a good day. It could be a difficult game in Scotland, and we’re prepared for that.

Manuel Neuer: We had a bit of a score to settle. We've developed as a team since we last played Poland – we were a lot better in our passing. Today’s game was a tactical battle.
