Löw: "We dominated the match"

The national team secured another crucial victory on the way to European Championship qualification with a 3-2 win over Scotland. The world champions have the opportunity to guarantee their place in next summer’s tournament with a win against Ireland on the 8th October. DFB.de has the match reaction.

Joachim Löw: "It was a difficult game, because Scotland didn’t contribute much in an attacking sense. For that reason, we had to find a balance between dynamic play and patience. We dominated the match, and didn’t give Scotland any chances from open play. Our goal was to pick up six points from the two games, which we have done".

Manuel Neuer: "We made mistakes from set pieces, which meant that Scotland were able to equalise twice. We want to keep going, as we have played well in the previous two matches. It’s annoying to concede goals, but we performed well and were the better team overall. We have to keep the momentum going."

Ilkay Gündogan: "The Scots sat very, very deep. They made it difficult for us. But we played good football and were dangerous throughout. I’m pleased to have scored again."

Thomas Müller: "I have been clinical in the last couple of games, which is always good. We knew what kind of game to expect. We were calm on the ball, it was a case of being patient."
