Löw to travel to Kazan for Confederations Cup draw

The draw for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup will take place in Kazan (Russia) on Saturday. Germany national team head coach Joachim Löw will travel 2300 kilometres to the Republic of Tatarstan on Friday to find out which teams Germany will face in the group stages live. The tournament will be played out between 17th June and 2nd July 2017.

”From our point of view, the Confederations Cup is a tournament to experiment. We will bring in a lot of youngsters and rest some of our key players. However, we will still keep some of our experienced players in the squad,” said Löw ahead of his trip to Kazan on Friday.

With exception of the Africa Cup of Nations champions, the participating teams are as follows: World Champions Germany, Hosts Russia, AFC Asian Cup winners Australia, Copa America champions Chile, CONCACAF Gold Cup winners Mexico, OFC Asian Cup winners New Zealand and European Championship winners Portugal. The final will take place on 2nd July 2017 in front of 62,000 fans in the Krestowskij stadium in St. Petersburg.

Team coach Oliver Bierhoff and DFB deputy secretary will accompany Joachim Löw on his trip to Kazan. The Russian organisation committee will put on workshops alongside the draw answering questions on security, logistics and accommodation during the tournament.
