Löw to name preliminary squad for EUROs on 17th May

Who will be joining the coach at the EUROs in France? The answer to that will be revealed on 17th May when Joachim Löw names his preliminary squad. If Löw takes more than 23 players to the training camp in Ascona (23rd May – 3rd June) then he will be required by UEFA rules to reduce the squad by 31st May.

The prologue to football’s Tour de France will take place in the German capital and the squad announcement will be at a press conference in the French embassy. When Germany’s coach Joachim Löw reads out the names of his squad, he will cast an eye on the Brandenburg Gate in Pariser Platz as well as casting his mind forward to Paris. An ambassadorial role: France and Germany are united. The nations stand side-by-side in sensitive times and borders disappear. The DFB gladly accepted the French embassy’s invitation.

The host of the press conference will be Philippe Etienne, the French ambassador to Germany. As well as the ambassador, Germany coach Joachim Löw will also be present as well as team manager Oliver Bierhoff and DFB president Reinhard Grindel.
