Löw to attend big clash in Dortmund

Dortmund will play host to one of the clashes of the season on Saturday evening in matchday 19 of the Bundesliga. BVB, who currently occupy the final Champions League spot, will welcome second-placed RB Leipzig to the Signal Iduna Park. This will no doubt provide an opportunity for Germany head coach Joachim Löw to have a look at current and potential players for the national team. There are currently four Germany players in Dortmund’s squad, namely André Schürrle, Marco Reus, Mario Götze and Julian Weigl. By contrast, Leipzig’s Davie Selke and Timo Werner recently featured in Germany’s U21 squad. However Werner, who has impressed this campaign with eleven goals in the league, will not be available for RBL in Dortmund due to a viral infection.

Löw’s assistants Thomas Schneider and Marcus Sorg, as well as goalkeeping coach Andreas Köpke will also be on the road in the next few days in a scouting capacity. Schneider will be present at the Bundesliga game between FC Bayern München and FC Schalke 04 on Saturday afternoon. Marcus Sorg has travelled abroad to watch Arsenal host Chelsea in the Premier League, where Mesut Özil and Shkodran Mustafi will be in action. Sorg will fly to Italy one day later, where Sami Khedira and Juventus host Inter Milan in Serie A. Köpke will be at Tuesday’s DFB Cup tie between SpVgg Greuther Fürth and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
