Löw praises fellow coaches: “They’re developing players superbly”

DFB president Reinhard Grindel opened the coaches conference in Hannover, where Germany national team boss Joachim Löw was the ‘highest-ranking’ amongst his colleagues that were present. DFB.de have summaried the most important quotes of the day below.

Reinhard Grindel (DFB president): Together, we want to further develop football in Germany. Therefore, it’s vital that we use our potential and are always one step ahead of our rivals, both on and off the pitch. Away from today’s events, with the coaches conference, the DFB is continuing a tradition of constant learning and advancement. We hope that DFB coaches and Bundesliga coaches communicate even more with each other, work with each other for the better and get new motivation and ideas for their work.

Joachim Löw (Germany head coach): We can only thank the coaches of the Bundesliga; outstanding work is being done in the academies of the clubs. At the Confederations Cup and the U21s European Championships, it became clear that the players are being educated and developed superbly – their versatility and character is what makes them stand out. That’s to the merit of every coach in Germany. We have a good selection of players in Germany, it’s a huge gift. It also an advantage heading into big tournaments, where we have ambitious goals.

Oliver Bierhoff (Germany national team manager and project leader of the DFB academy): The conversations over the past few days were very constructive and informative. We’d like to show the coaches certain things which can serve as motivation. Certain results from science can also be of significance to the development of football. We want to open ourselves to certain parts of science and use these insights in our work.

Ralph Hasenhüttl (RB Leipzig head coach): We had some good talks, on both a technical and a human level. The guest lecture on gut decisions and intuition was very interesting. I would welcome the idea of the coaches conference taking place regularly in the future.

Dieter Hecking (Borussia Mönchengladbach head coach): It’s very important to be in close contact with each other and with the DFB. It’s also nice when we club coaches are praised by the national team boss Löw for the outstanding selection of players Germany have, and that he has us in mind regarding his plans for the 2018 World Cup. I very much welcome being informed like this.
