Germany national team coach, Joachim Löw, was honoured as a Legend of Sport at the 35th Sports Press Ball in Frankfurt on Saturday. Former national team player Miroslav Klose presented Löw with the award., while newly elected DFB-President Reinhard Grindel gave a congratulatory speech in the Old Opera House in Frankfurt.
“I am very proud of this award. To be in this illustrious circle of great sportsmen is great,” said Löw with a twinkle in his eye. “When I heard the word legend in conjunction with my name, I was a bit terrified at first.”
Around 2,300 guests were present at the ceremony, including Olympic, World and European champions, as well as figures from the fields of politics and show business.
