Löw: "Everyone can play better"

Die Mannscaft suffered their first defeat in 22 matches at the hands of record World Cup winners Brazil on Tuesday evening. Joachim Löw and his players were naturally disappointed by the performance and result. DFB.de rounds up all the key quotes from Berlin’s Olympiastadion.

JOACHIM LÖW: "It was to be expected that Brazil would be highly motivated from the start. It wasn’t our day today. We made lots of changes, you could see that. We made too many silly mistakes that made it easy for Brazil. We had a few young players on the pitch today. They got some experience and will learn from this. Overall, the mistakes added up and we couldn’t get into the channels. Our transitional play after regaining possession wasn’t there, especially in the first half. Everyone can obviously play better."

KEVIN TRAPP: "It was a strange game, especially in the first half it was tough. Brazil held us off well and press us. In the second half we did better, but didn’t manage to create any chances."

TONI KROOS: "The postive thing is that towards the end played better football than we did in the first half. But obviously the negatives outweigh that. We saw that we’re not as good as we’re made out to be and a lot of players believe. Perhaps it was good to see that we still have plenty of room to improve."

ILKAY GÜNDOGAN: "There was a little bit of light, but many, many shadows. We made it too easy for Brazil and gave them too many counter chances by losing the ball. There’s a lot to improve on."
