Löw and Klose to attend El Clásico

The entire world will be watching when FC Barcelona take on Real Madrid today, including DFB Team coach Joachim Löw and his assistants Thomas Schneider, Andreas Köpke, Marcus Sorg and Miroslav Klose.

Marc-André ter Stegen is expected to start for Barcelona in the 265th El Clásico, while Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos is still sidelined with a foot injury. However, the 26-year-old midfield tactician did return to training on Friday after having been out of action for four weeks.

The trip will continue for Schneider, Köpke, Sorg and Klose after the game, as they will attend Tuesday’s Champions League encounter between Barcelona and Borussia Mönchengladbach. And on Wednesday they are headed for Madrid, where Real will host Borussia Dortmund. The UEFA Youth League match between Barcelona’s and Gladbach’s U19 side is also on their schedule.

The reason for these scouting trips is not only to observe current and potential future international players, but also to analyse and identify trends and developments at the highest level possible. World Champion Miroslav Klose joined the coaching staff in November and he will receive an individual apprenticeship and trainee-program with the clear goal of starting a coaching career.
