Leipzig back to the top of the Bundesliga

Newly promoted RB Leipzig beat Hertha BSC 2-0 on Matchday 15 to go back to the top of the Bundesliga. Germany U21 international Timo Werner scored to put his team in the lead in the 40th minute, before captain Willi Orban made it 2-0 in the 62nd minute. FC Bayern München can go back to the top of the league if they beat SV Darmstadt 98 tomorrow at 15:30 CET.

FSV Mainz 05 beat Hamburger SV 3-0 thanks to a hat-trick from Danny Latza. Mainz ended their run of three losses with the win and are now in ninth position in the Bundesliga table. U21 Germany international Serge Gnabry scored the equaliser for SV Werder Bremen in their 1-1 draw against 1. FC Köln. Bremen are now unbeaten in four and are five points clear of the relegation zone. FC Köln are also now unbeaten in four games.

Manuel Baum celebrated his first victory in charge at FC Augsburg as they beat Borussia Mönchengladbach 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. Martin Hinteregger scored the winner for FC Augsburg in the 75th minute, securing their first win in five games. Evgen Konoplyanka scored his first ever Bundesliga goal to secure a point for Schalke as they drew 1-1 against SC Freiburg.

Werner scores the opener

Both teams were looking to get an early goal in Leipzig, however the hosts were the dominant side and were creating the better chances early on. Marcel Sabitzer tested Jarstein in the 20th minute with an effort from about 16 yards out. Leipzig continued to maintain this pressure and in the 40th minute Naby Keita set up Werner to score the opener.

Orban makes it 2-0

Leipzig were the dominant team in the second half. Jarstein tipped a header from Marcel Halstenberg over the bar to keep Hertha in the game in the 53rd minute. Willi Orban scored a header from an Emil Forsberg corner in the 62nd minute to secure the win for RB Leipzig.
