Lautern fail to move top, Bochum snatch draw, FCN on the up

1. FC Kaiserslautern missed the chance to go top of the 2. Bundesliga on Friday night, Bochum goalkeeper Andreas Luthe provided a last-minute assist as VfL grabbed a point against Darmstadt and Nürnberg secured a win against RB Leipzig to continue their positive trend.

FCK opened matchday 10 and were hoping to move to the top of the 2. Bundesliga table, but newly promoted 1. FC Heidenheim held them to a 1-1 draw. It means the Red Devils remain without an away win this season, but are still a promising second in the standings.

There was also a 1-1 draw between VfL Bochum and another new face in the second division in 2014/15, SV Darmstadt 98. The newly-promoted side were denied a temporary second-place ranking in dramatic style, as VfL keeper Luthe came up for a last-minute free kick and won a header that was then turned home by former Chelsea player Mikael Forssell to rescue a point for the hosts.

1. FC Nürnberg’s quest to secure an immediate return to the Bundesliga is starting to take shape. Valérien Ismaël’s side beat high-flying promoted outfit RasenBallsport Leipzig 1-0 thanks to Alessandro Schöpf’s cool finish. FCN are now unbeaten in their last three games – a run which includes two wins – and have moved up to ninth in the 2. Bundesliga table. RB Leipzig will still be happy with their current fifth-place spot in their debut season in the second tier.
