Simone Laudehr sprained a ligament in her left ankle during the World Cup final 16 match against Sweden. The midfielder twisted it during a challenge, when she stepped on her opponent’s foot. She will be fine to feature in the quarterfinal on Friday though (against France or South Korea).
“It hurt for a little while but then after constantly twisting your ankle for 20 years, you then don’t notice it any longer,” said Laudehr, who despite the knock just before the end, played until the final whistle.
