Lahm hopes to return to training in four weeks

Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm’s return from injury is in sight. The 31-year-old wants to be back running in a week and rejoin team training in four weeks. “There is still a little while to go. In a few days, I can start running again and I think that I can be back on the field in about four weeks,” said Lahm on Thursday. “I miss the team and the place. It’s never fun being on the sidelines for months,” he added.

Last week, the defender completed his first session on the bike. In a Bayern Munich training session in November, the former national team captain sustained an ankle injury. He underwent an operation to repair the fracture with a plate and screw.

In the meantime, Lahm seems relaxed despite Bayern’s poor start to the second half of the season. “You need to differentiate between the games. In Wolfsburg, it was a poor performance from us so we lost. It’s important to see Tuesday’s game differently though. We played with 10 men for 70 minutes and have come away with a 1-1 draw,” said the 113-times capped international.
