Lahm and Müller extend stays at Bayern

Philipp Lahm (30) and Thomas Müller (24) have both agreed two-year contract extensions with double winners Bayern Munich. Club captain Lahm has committed his future to the Bavarians until 30 June 2018, with Müller now set to remain in Munich until 30 June 2019.

"Both Philipp Lahm and Thomas Müller are very important members of the Bayern squad," commented FC Bayern München AG chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. "Both have stayed loyal to the club since the start of their careers and will continue to play an important role here in the future. We're delighted both players have committed to Bayern Munich for the long term."

"I now want to wish Philipp Lahm and Thomas Müller a successful World Cup in Brazil," continued Rummenigge, "I'm keeping my fingers crossed for them and the Germany team on their way to winning the trophy."

Lahm: I'll see out my career with Bayern

"The club and my management team basically decided at the same time we should begin talks," commented Lahm, "it seemed to both sides a good point in time for a contract extension. It's definitely my last contract and I'll see out my career with Bayern. It's what I always wanted and I'm extremely pleased and happy about it."

Müller said: "Shortly before the start of the World Cup, I'm very happy about extending my contract with Bayern until 2019. We held very good talks with the management of the club, which made it clear to me that I’m in the right place. I have the feeling I'm an important component in the club’s plans. FC Bayern Munich has been my club since 2000 and will remain my club in the years to come."
