Frankfurt looked to complete their comeback in the second half, but Leverkusen struck clinically from a counter attack, with Hakan Calhanoglu providing the 3-1 winner.

Augsburg earn win in Stuttgart, no goals in Cologne

Kick off between Stuttgart and Augsburg was pushed back a bit after admission to the stadium took longer than expected. Once the game got going it was Augsburg who took the initiative. Alexander Esswein and Timo Baumgartl were on target to give the visitors a 2-0 inside twenty minutes. Jan Ingwer Callsen-Bracker also scored in the first half, with Augsburg taking a 3-0 lead into half-time.

In the second half Augsburg was able to defend their comfortable lead and use one of their various counter attacking opportunities to add a fourth goal, when Ja-Cheol Koo sealed victory for FCA in the 54th minute.

The game between Köln and Mainz was not a high quality affair, with neither team being able to take control of the match. Both teams became more active after the break, but clear goal chances were not created. For Köln it was their third consecutive home game in which they managed to keep a clean sheet.
