Kroos helps Real to victory with assist

Toni Kroos and Real Madrid won their eighth game of the season against FC Malaga 3-2 in what was a hard-fought victory. The Germany international played a crucial role in their second goal, assisting Casemiro from a corner kick.

The reigning Champions League winners are now in third place in the La Liga standings. Real’s arch rivals FC Barcelona are still seven points ahead, however, and Marc-André ter Stegen’s side can extend that lead tomorrow when they go up against second placed Valencia.

Ronaldo scores his second of the season

Karim Benzema put the 33-time Spanish champions into the lead in the ninth minute, before Malaga brought it back through Diego Rolan (18’). Three minutes later though, a Toni Kroos corner picked out Casemiro, who regained the lead for Real.

Chori Castro scored a surprising equaliser in the 58th minute for the underdogs, but in the 76th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo secured the three points for “Los Blancos” with his second goal on the season.

Can absent as Liverpool and Chelsea share spoils

Liverpool passed up on a chance to beat league rivals Chelsea in the Saturday evening Premier League fixture on matchday 13. Germany international Emre Can missed the game against the reigning champions through injury, as his side face ending the week outside of the European qualification spots.

Jürgen Klopp’s team currently lie fifth (23 points), but Shkodran Mustafi, Mesut Özil and Per Mertesacker can overtake them with Arsenal and draw level with Chelsea (26) if they beat Burnley on Sunday. Ilkay Gündogan and Leroy Sané continue to lead the table with Manchester City (37), who are yet to face Huddersfield this current matchday.

While Can missed out due to injury, Antonio Rüdiger sat on the bench for Chelsea. Mo Salah opened the scoring in the 65th minute, before substitute Willian equalised in dramatic fashion with five minutes left to play.
