Kroos and Real lose on penalties

Die Mannschaft’s Toni Kroos was in action for Real Madrid on Saturday. The 25-year-old World Cup winner was brought on at half time as Real Madrid lost 7-6 on penalties against AS Roma in front of 80,000 supporters in Melbourne, Australia.

Kroos covered plenty of ground and impressed in the holding midfield role. He helped create Real’s best chance to win the game but Lucas Vázquez couldn’t convert with just six minutes of regulation time left. The game was decided on penalties and the Germany international was involved – he converted the Spanish side’s third spot kick but it was the Italians who prevailed.
