Klose makes sub appearance in Lazio draw

World Cup winner Miroslav Klose featured in Lazio’s 1-1 draw to Hellas Verona on matchday 9 of the Italian Serie A campaign. Klose, who scored the winning goal at the weekend over Torino, came off the bench in the 83rd minute to replace Filip Djordjevic, but was unable to strike late this time.

Senad Lulic handed Lazio the lead shortly before the interval, but ex-Bundesliga and Bayern frontman Luca Toni secured a point against the Champions League hopefuls for Verona from the spot. Luis Cavanda was guilty of giving the penalty away, and was given his marching orders after picking up his second yellow card of the match.

Lazio remain unbeaten for the fifth consecutive game with the point and move up to third spot in Serie A. The gap between themselves and table-toppers Juventus and local rivals AS Roma is already six points though. Klose takes on Cagliari on matchday 10.
