Kimmich: I’m in a good run of form

Kimmich: He’s right. Our movement and passing game was lacking slightly. We also didn’t press well without the ball after the break.

Question: Are you looking forward to going on international duty this week?

Kimmich: Of course. Getting the chance to represent your national team is a big opportunity, one that brings new and exciting opportunities. I’m delighted to be involved.

Question: Is the fact that you play in different positions for club and country problematic?

Kimmich: It’s not an issue at all. Anyone who gets the chance to play for Germany should enjoy it, regardless of where they’re playing. I don’t mind where I’m playing, as long as I get the chance to play.

Joshua Kimmich is quickly becoming FC Bayern’s go to man as far as scoring is concerned. His sixth competitive goal of the season came in yesterday’s 1-1 draw against 1. FC Köln. After the game the 21-year-old spoke to DFB.de about his form in front of goal, the match against the Billy Goats and international duty.

Question: Mr.Kimmich, would you say your goals are rescuing Bayern at the minute?

Joshua Kimmich: I wouldn’t say that. That label would be more accurate if I scored the equaliser!

Question: You’re on an impressive run of form though...

Kimmich: I’m in a good run of form. Hopefully things stay the same in the coming weeks and months.

Question: Why do you think you were unable to find a winner yesterday?

Kimmich: Obviously, it would have been nice to have taken more from the game. We controlled the game in the first half and they were barely in our end of the pitch. In the second period we weren’t as dominant and the visitors grew into the game. We hit the woodwork a couple of times, but they also had chances to grab a second.

Question: Manuel Neuer suggested that the tempo was missing. Do you agree with that assessment?

Kimmich: He’s right. Our movement and passing game was lacking slightly. We also didn’t press well without the ball after the break.
